ELN & LIMS
We recently audited an ELN - Electronic Lab Notebook and LIMS - Laboratory Information Management System of a Pharma company and found the below issues:
Data security and integrity: Ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive research data is crucial. ELN lacked robust security measures to prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, and accidental modifications.
Integration with other systems: The ELN needed to integrate seamlessly with other laboratory software, such as LIMS and instrument management systems, to facilitate data exchange and avoid manual data entry errors.
User adoption and training: Researchers were resistant to adopting new technologies, and adequate training modules were not designed to ensure user proficiency and maximize the benefits of ELNs.
Scalability and flexibility: LIMS needed to be scalable to accommodate the growing data volumes and diverse needs. They should also be flexible enough to adapt to changing workflows and regulatory requirements.
Data validation and audit trails: Maintaining accurate and verifiable data is paramount. LIMS lacked robust data validation features and comprehensive audit trails to track changes and ensure data integrity.
Interoperability: LIMS didn’t seamlessly integrate with other software systems used in the laboratory, such as ELNs and analytical instruments, to eliminate data silos and streamline workflows.
Have you faced these issues with your ELN and LIMS? Then Let’s talk.
